Tell us what's going on in your business. I don't know what you think but every time I turn on the news it is always doom and gloom. Job losses, cuts, energy price rises, housing price slump etc. is the world coming to an end. I know there are people out there doing well but why do we never hear about them on the news. It always seems to be negative.
Media hype.
I'm busy at the minute, touch wood!!! think people are watching the purse strings def but if you putting in correct quotes for work you should be okay.
i think what alot of people are doing as well is saying......"Lets not move house as its to crazy a market and lets do the house up instead"
I must admit i'm not looking forward to after christmAS AS IM SURE THIS WILL BE A VERY SLACK TIME!!!!
Glad to hear you are busy at the moment, lets hope it stays that way.
I have personally found in the past that getting your marketing right is the key to surviving when everyone else is quiet, I hope some of the marketing info on this site is helpful to you.
If you have any specific marketing questions that you cant find the answers to let me know, I will see if I can help

Hi all,
Just joined the site. I am finding it all a bit miss and hit at the moment. I am getting plenty of enquires at the min but alot of people are holding off till next year. I have enough work to keep us going till xmas but had to lay 4 lads off over the past few weeks :( I am also in the middle of taking a client to court due to not having the funds after we half built his extension, makes you laugh really when he has got 3 mercs and a 5 bed detached house and he can not afford a 20k extension. Anyway one good thing I can see coming out of this recession is the good builders will see it through whilst the cowboys will suffer.
We have been busy, but with a reduced workforce, then all of a sudden it goes very quite.
Have been in this business for over 30 years and not seen anything like it before, in previous recessions house building would go quite so you jumped onto council houses or commercial work, but that is not there either now.
There still are private and domestic customers out there but you have to work harder to get the jobs and keep the prices keen, but the materials keep on rising in price.
Still cant complain, we must think positive, its a case of getting through these times, as they will get better its just part of the cycle.
Would like to hear comments from others and how they are doing
Hello Colin, I agree with you, there is work is out there but there is a real need to cut margins and overheads. Recession really makes you look at every penny.
