Everyone wants free traffic to their website and if you are prepared to put a bit of time into your SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) you will have free traffic coming to your website from Google for years.
After you have sorted out your Page Titles (see previous post) you need to put your Keywords on your page.
For the purpose of this post imagine your company is called Joe Bloggs Building Company and you are based in Chelmsford in Essex.
In the previous post we decided your Keywords/Search Term was going to be Builder Chelmsford, so you need to get your Keywords on your page a few times without compromising the flow of your content.
You could start your content with the following:
“Joe Bloggs Building Company, Chelmsford.”
“We are a local Builders based in Chelmsford and we have been building in the Chelmsford area for many years. All of our Builders are fully qualified and have many satisfied customers in Chelmsford and the surrounding villages.”
Towards the end of the page you could finish with something like:
“So for quality Builders in Chelmsford call Joe Bloggs Builders on…”
As you can see your Keywords Builders and Chelmsford are contained in this content a few times each.
Something else that is going to help is to put the following at the bottom of each page:
Builder Chelmsford - Builder in Chelmsford - Builders Chelmsford - Builders in Chelmsford
If you then link each of the above to separate pages on your site it will have a double effect, on one hand Google is seeing your Keywords Builder Chelmsford more often and on the other hand you are making it easier for Google to find your other pages. (Make sure one of the links above points to your home page)
Here is a Big Tip – wherever possible make all of your text links out of your keywords. So, instead of saying “To visit page X click here” with the words click here the text you click on to go to the page, you should do the following: “To visit page X click here > Builders Chelmsford” and people would click on the words Builders Chelmsford to visit your page, this is really going to help your rankings on Google.
Go on Google and search for the phrase - click here
The reason that Adobe is at number one is because there a thousands of websites that have the following: To Download the PDF Reader > click here, etc.
One other thing you can do on your page is to put your Keywords in your ‘Hover Text’. The Hover Text or ALT Text as it is often called is the text that appears when you move your mouse over an object or picture on the screen. Google can often recognize this text so on every picture or object that lets you include some Hover Text and make that text includes your Keywords.
If you combine the above with the info on the previous post you will be well on your way to getting your site listed on the first page of Google for free.
