Do you want to get visitors to your website, for free, for life?
This is actually a very simple process and I am going to share with you the basics to getting a never ending stream of visitors to your site for free, for life.
By Free, I mean at no monetary cost. You will need to spend some time but if you are starting out on the internet it’s great to get some stuff for free. So, instead of going to the pub why not spend a few evenings on your website optimisation.
The Free Traffic that I am referring to is from Google and the other Search Engines, as Google is the most popular search engine by far we will concentrate on that one.
Here’s a quick run down of what you need to do to your site to get it on the first page of Google for your chosen Keywords. (Keywords are simply the words or phrase that you type in on Google when you are searching for something on the internet).
The methods I am outlining here are known as SEO strategies. Search Engine Optimisation sounds expensive and usually is expensive because many people believe it is really difficult to achieve high rankings on the search engines and the SEO companies want to keep it that way.
For the purpose of this post imagine your company is called Joe Bloggs Building Company and you are based in Chelmsford in Essex.
Firstly you need to decide on what Keywords you are going to target. You may want to aim for the Keywords Builder Essex. This is fine but you are going to be competing with a lot of builders in Essex and you are going to find it very difficult to get onto the first page of Google for that Keyword. I suggest you keep your Keywords Local to begin with. You should be aiming for the phrase Builder Chelmsford. Once you have nailed that Keyword you can always concentrate your efforts on other towns or a wider area.
Now you have decided on your Keywords you need to get to work on your site. If you are not the person who updates your site you simply need to make a list of the following steps and give it to the person who does. Just because they have designed your website don’t think for a minute that they know anything about Internet Marketing. After you have read this series of posts you will probably know more about it than them. Anyway let’s get back to your website.
Sort out your Page Titles.
You need to put your Keywords in your Page Titles (the blue bar at the top of the web pages) Usually you just see someone’s company name up there, this is not going to help Google much. If someone is searching for Builder Colchester and the page titles on your site read Joe Bloggs Building Company it is making it difficult for Google. You need to make it easy for Google and put your Keywords in the Page Titles on your site, change your Page Titles to Builders Chelmsford – Joe Bloggs Building Company. Now, when someone searches on Google for the keyword Builder Chelmsford the first thing that Google will look for in its lists of millions of web pages are the Page Titles and if your Page Titles includes that Keyword your site will stand a much better chance of ending up on the first page of Google.
Go onto Google now and search for Builder Chelmsford, can you find Joe Bloggs. Whilst you are there have a look at the Page Titles of that site and any other websites that you come across on Google, then, go and sort out your own Page Titles.
In my next post we will discuss the things you need to do on the page itself to help you get on the first page of Google. If you can’t wait until then why not download my Free Marketing Guide and Bonus Google Report, click below:
