What the hell does Direct Response Marketing mean; shouldn’t you just get your name and logo out there and hope for the best? Yes, if you want to struggle for the rest of your business life.
Large corporations get their name and logo out there, this is called Brand Marketing. Most small businesses do Direct Response advertising and marketing, this gets people to raise their hands and tell you they are interested as a direct response of your marketing efforts.
To really give your direct response approach a boost you need a compelling offer that your potential customers just can’t resist.
If you offer something of perceived value for free in your advertising and marketing this will dramatically increase the response rate and it also gives you an excellent way to test that particular marketing campaign.
If you sent out 1000 leaflets with a unique offer and a special promotional code you would be able to accurately measure the results. You would then know how many customers contacted you as a result of your mail out. When you Brand Market you have no way of measuring the results so you do not know whether or not you have wasted your money.
Most UK builders plumbers electricians waste their money every year on the Yellow Pages, not knowing if it is bringing a return for their money. If you had a unique offer, a unique telephone number, and unique promotion code you would be able to accurately measure the results and you would know whether or not to waste your money next year.
Most business owners advertise in the Yellow Pages because their competitors are doing it, this is not the way to spend your hard earned cash. Make all of your marketing Direct Response and test the results.
